Piranha plants are a deadly carnivorous species of plants. They bite at Mario with their sharp teeth and have their mouth pointed up. If Mario tries to jump on them, they snap at him and smile smugly. The Piranha Plants in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door are three times as tough as their Paper Mario counterparts, but is unknown how their strength tripled. Known relatives are the Putrid Piranha and Frost Piranha, as well as the Pale Piranha.
